I fear the man of a single note!

– Thomas Aquinas

The overarching idea behind the NoteTheBook platform is that interacting with the study material by means of taking/making notes, highlighting texts, sorting out ideas and concepts, marking paragraphs, rewriting sentences in your own words has always been a very engaging pedagogical form.

Studying by “note-making” has two interrelated meanings: obviously, it refers to “taking notes”, but at the same time it also expresses “noting” which means to notice or pay particular attention to something, to pick up on something. Noting stands in direct contrast to those interactive e-learning tools, where you have to look for a correct, appropriate solution of a task, or where you are asked to decide whether a statement is true or false. Noting has nothing in common with such „learning technologies” not only becasue those doesn’t imply learning, but also because noting is not about learning. Noting, rather, is a performative, „studious” engagement in which attention is at stake, and it is formed by getting in a real and transformative touch with the study material.

The NoteTheBook platform allows you to interact with study texts and then to print the complete study material including the interactions you made into a unique PDF booklet. To put it short, the NoteTheBook platform generates unique „notebooks” that you can refer to as „my own” copy.
